TULSA, Okla. (Dec. 10, 2024) – EMSA, Emergency Medical Services Authority, is celebrating the arrival of our first Gen2 Ambulance in Tulsa. On Tuesday afternoon, EMSA unveiled the Gen2 Ambulance ahead of its maiden street shift.
While EMSA’s Gen2 Ambulances look very similar to existing EMSA units from the exterior, the interior ambulance layout has been reconfigured to help our Paramedics and EMTs treat and care for patients more efficiently. The new design also increases patient comfort.
“We want our EMSA EMTs and Paramedics to have the best tools to deliver the highest quality care to our patients – that includes our ambulances that are emergency rooms on wheels. Because of COVID and manufacturing delays, this Gen2 Ambulance is the first brand new EMSA unit to hit the streets in Tulsa since 2017. We are very excited about the patient care improvements on the Gen2 ambulance,” EMSA President and CEO Johna Easley said.
The EMSA Gen2 Ambulance design changes were made following feedback from EMSA Paramedics and EMTs. The main changes to the ambulance configuration include:
- CPR chair to make chest compressions easier for EMS medics
- Center mount cot for patient comfort
- Easier access to medical supplies such as oxygen.
EMSA plans to add at least ten new Gen2 Ambulances to its Tulsa fleet in the coming years.
